Court sentenced Kano Singer for defamation of Gov. Ganduje and his Family

Kano-based singer, Muhammad Yusuf AGY Yakasai who is a supporter of Kwankwasiyya political group has been sentenced to 2 years in prison over insulting and defamation of family of the incumbent governor of the state.

Yusuf was imprisoned by Magistrate court at N0.72 no man's land, Kano on Wednesday.

The Court imprisoned Yusuf on 3 Charges 1. Releasing song without the Approval of Censorship Board 2. Releasing Video without the approval of film and video censorship board 3. Insulting and defamation of Governor Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and his family.

For the first two charges, Yusuf was sentenced to 6 months imprisonment with the option of paying a ransom of 50 thousand Naira each. The second Charge Yusuf was sentenced to 1 year imprisonment with no option.

The incident angered many Kwankwasiyya Supporters seeing that Neither the Kwankwasiyya Political group nor it's members attend the hearing or sponsor a lawyer for Yusuf.

 And that no one attempt to pay the 100 thousand Naira Fine for Yusuf which he can't afford to pay for himself.

According to Rariya, Many Kwankwasiyya supporters said what happened to Yusuf had become a lesson to them, they will not allow any Kwankwasiyya politician to push them to insult anyone in the future.
