For the third time Rooney scored from middle of the field again and Sets new record

Former Manchester United star Wayne Rooney has scored his third career goal from the halfway line for his new club DC United.

Rooney scored the ball in their match against Orlando City when he noticed the goalkeeper was off his line.

Then, with some quite incredible accuracy, Rooney cut across the ball wonderfully and saw the ball loop over the goalkeeper and bounce into the net.

Watch the video below:

That was the third time he came up with the long distance strike after he had done the same thing for Manchester United and Everton.

After the match Rooney said many coaches and players used to tell him that he won't score from that distance. He said he had been practicing.

"Different managers and teammates are like 'why are you practicing this, you won't score from this position' but for nights like tonight that's why I do practice it.

"It was a good strike and an important goal for us."

Rooney is the only player in football history who scored such balls for all the clubs he had played for, Everton, Manchester United and DC United.
